How To Do An Axe Kick – Martial Arts Kicking Technique

Written Instructions – How To Do An Axe Kick
Raise your leg vertically as high as you can and then bring your leg down against the target.
Try to strike the target with the heel of your foot. The hard bone of the heel is more effective than striking with the sole or ball of your foot.
In self-defense, this kick can be used against targets such as the face or shoulder bone of an attacker.
This kick should only be used in certain situations because you are leaving your groin exposed for a counter attack.
In order to maximize the effectiveness of this kicking technique, you need to work on your flexibility because it is easy to pull a hamstring with an over-extended axe kick.
How To Do A Downward Roundhouse Kick
This kick is also as the “Brazilian Kick” or as the Yaw Yan “Mountain Storm Kick” . The downward roundhouse kick is like a traditional roundhouse kick but where you angle your kick downwards your target. You need to be very flexible in order to throw this kick effectively.
Defensive techniques against attack:
It as categorized into six groups:
1. Blocking: Defenders hard block to stop a strike in its path, so preventing it reaching its target.
2. Redirection: Defenders soft parries to change the directions of a strike so that it misses its target.
3. Avoidance: Moving a body part swiftly out of the way or range of a strike, making the position of the opponent for a counter strike.
4. Evasion: Moving the body out of the way or range of a strike.
5. Disruption: Pre-aiming an attack.
6. Anticipation: Defender catching a strike or countering it before it strike.
