Conor McGregor on CNN: ‘Maybe I should run for president of USA’
Conor McGregor’s popularity continues to rise. The Irish champion has been commended by Hollywood stars such as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnsonand Arnold Schwarzenegger, made appearances on the Conan O’Brien show, and now CNN have taken an interest to the star.
The American broadcasting station featured McGregor as a guest on July 25th, where he discussed Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.
“Fair play to him [Donald Trump],” McGregor said. “I’m not really sure what way the presidential election goes over this neck of the woods but if that’s the way he’s going about it – I mean, it’s a vote of the public, so the public…I feel the American public in particular is attracted to controversy; they enjoy it in a way. So if that’s the way he’s going about his business to gain fans and to stir the pot and to make claims of what he will do…I suppose maybe I have done similar, I suppose maybe he has taken a play out of the McGregor book. Maybe I should run for president of the United States.”
The 27-year-old also discussed his fascination with animals. Given McGregor’s obsession with animal movement, the Irish sensation is looking to purchase a tiger in Las Vegas.
“If I can move like them [animals], walk like them and attack like them, there’s not a human alive that can stop me. I’m actually in the process of looking to purchase one of these animals. I believe in Vegas it can be done. I think a tiger, I’d like a nice tiger. A good colored tiger. Mike Tyson had a white one, I’d like an orange and black one.”
Conor McGregor is set to coach opposite Urijah Faber for the latest series of The Ultimate Fighter. The show airs on September 9th and will feature a clash between Team Europe and Team USA. The two coaches will not be facing each other, however, as McGregor is expected to challenge for the official featherweight title against Jose Aldoafter the show has concluded.
